About
A commissioned officer in Pakistan's armed forces leads soldiers, pilots, sailors and technical teams, and plans and executes operations, training and administration. Entry after FSc or A Level is through the PMA Long Course (Army), GD Pilot branch (PAF) or Operations/Marine branches (Navy), all starting with ISSB selection and military training. Officers earn a government salary with housing, medical and allowances, and can later move to staff, command or specialised roles.

Armed forces careers in Pakistan remain stable and respected, with guaranteed pay, housing, medical care and a pension. March–April of Class 9
Class 9: Secure ≥75% in Math & Physics annual exams
This builds the base for FSc Pre-Engineering/ICS. If you are in O Level, equivalent: A or B in Mathematics and Physics.
June–August
Class 9 summer: Start daily fitness routine
Join a local park for jogging and calisthenics. Aim to run 1 km under 5 minutes by end of holidays.
Before September of Class 10
Start of Class 10: Finalise Matric board or O Level subjects
Choose optional subjects that include Physics, Maths and Computer Science if possible (for ICS edge). Avoid purely arts subjects if aiming for GD Pilot.
December–January of Class 10
Class 10 pre-board: Solve last 5 years of board papers
For every subject, especially Math, Physics, English and Pakistan Studies. Time yourself to improve speed.
March–May of Class 10
Class 10 board exams: Score ≥60% aggregate (aim ≥75%)
Minimum for PMA Long Course is 60% in intermediate, but a higher Matric percentage makes your application stronger.
July–August after Class 10
After boards: Enrol in FSc Pre-Engineering or ICS
This gives best alignment for technical branches. If you want GD Pilot, Pre-Engineering is preferred by PAF. Ensure college has Physics, Maths and English.
What to focus on
Mathematics and Physics basicsThroughout Class 9 and Class 10
For GD Pilot in PAF and technical corps in Army/Navy, a strong grip on Matric Math and Physics is essential. Solve all examples and past board papers; aim for 80%+ in these subjects. It makes FSc Pre-Engineering or ICS easier later.
English language proficiencyDaily from Class 9 onward
ISSB group discussions, psychological tests and interviews are in English. Read English newspapers daily, watch BBC/DAWN news and practice writing one paragraph per day. Minimum target: 70%+ in English board exam.
Physical fitness routineStart in Class 9; achieve target by Class 10 summer
Armed forces physical standards are high. Start running 1.6 km in ≤8 minutes by the end of Class 10, plus 15 push-ups and 20 sit-ups daily. Use free YouTube channel 'Army Physical Training Pakistan' for drills.
Matric / O Level marks matterClass 10 board exams (spring)
PMA Long Course, GD Pilot and Navy branches require at least 60% in your intermediate exam, but good Matric (≥70%) boosts your overall profile and can help in ISSB initial screening or if you apply for cadet colleges for FSc.

Private Matric school fees: typically ₹5,000–₹15,000 per month. O Level per subject exam fee: ₹10,000–₹20,000. Government schools are free; many cadet colleges charge ₹40,000–₹80,000 per month but offer scholarships.
